Building Someone's Story

Your Perspective: the first three questions

Every story starts with the same three questions, whether you're the person who set it up or someone invited later:

  • Memory — What's your clearest memory of them?

  • Character — How would you describe them as a person?

  • Legacy — What do you hope people remember about them?

You can answer by speaking (tap the mic and talk — KeepSaiQ turns your words into text right away, 10–30 seconds is plenty) or by typing directly. There's no wrong length — a few honest sentences are worth more than a polished paragraph.

Once you save your answers, you'll see a See your reflection button — tap it to generate your Through Your Eyes portrait.

More to Discover: exploring their dimensions

Beyond the three core questions, every loved one has dimensions — facets of who they were, like their sense of humor, work ethic, or the way they showed love. The More to Discover page shows a grid of these, each marked:

  • Explored — three or more memories captured

  • Emerging — one or two memories captured

  • Not yet explored — nothing captured here yet

Tap any dimension to see what's already been shared, or to add your own memory to it. For an unexplored dimension, you'll get three options:

  • I know something — jump straight into sharing a memory

  • I'm not sure — go back and explore a different dimension

  • I know someone who might — send an invite to whoever you think would know

Through Your Eyes: your portrait

Through Your Eyes is an AI-generated portrait built from one person's perspective — a short narrative paired with their photos, written in a warm, editorial style. It's generated the moment you complete your Perspective answers.

If you're the one who set up the story, this shows your version of them. If you're a contributor invited to share your own memories, you'll see your loved one's full name in the portrait rather than any nickname, so it always reads naturally to whoever's looking at it.

Through Our Eyes: when the family comes together

Once enough family members have shared their own perspective, KeepSaiQ weaves everyone's memories into a single combined portrait — Through Our Eyes. This usually takes a few moments to generate ("we're weaving your perspectives together…").

You'll automatically be taken here instead of the single-perspective version once two or more people have contributed. Right now, reach it from the Through Your Eyes page (or the Perspectives tab if you're on mobile) — it isn't its own sidebar item yet on desktop.

Family Mosaic: who's contributed

The Family Mosaic page is the roster for a loved one's story — everyone who's added a perspective, how many stories each person has shared, and anyone who's been invited but hasn't answered yet. Tap any contributor's tile to see their perspective directly.

Editing a loved one's details

Need to fix a name, add a nickname, or update whether someone is living or has passed? From their story page, tap Edit, update the details, and save — the change appears everywhere their name is shown right away.
